33rd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards
Obsidian Theatre Company steals the show at the 2012 Dora awards
Presented by TAPA (Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts)
Hosted by Thom Allison
Directed by Sandra Lefrançois

Toronto's theatre community partied in style last night at the 33rd annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards. The evening kicked off with a VIP red carpet reception at the Sony Centre for the Arts, followed by the official awards, hosted by Thom Allison, at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Performing Arts. Featuring presenters such as the hilarious Eric Peterson, the show poked fun at the city's "It may not be the Tonys but it's all we can afford!" self-image, while honouring our brightest performing arts stars.
Obsidian Theatre Company walked away with the most awards (7), including Outstanding Production, Outstanding Direction (Philip Akin) and Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Principal Role (Nigel Shawn Williams) for Topdog Underdog, and Outstanding Production (Musical Theatre), Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Principal Role (Jarvis Sterling), Outstanding Performance by a Female in a Principal Role (Arlene Duncan), and Outstanding Musical Direction (Reza Jacobs) for Caroline, or Change.
